"Eat, drink, love life", this was my father's philosophy.
WEST END'S LOCAL
Why Table 26?
Dad and I opened the West End Park Cafe in 2003, and since then the cafe has been a mainstay, offering grab-and- go bites and freshly brewed coffee to locals and workers alike. It was a joint vision of myself and dad to open another locale – one that celebrated eating, drinking and loving life – and after his passing in 2009, I was committed to actualising dad’s philosophy and making good on this vision. Table 26 is a vibrant corner cafe designed in conjunction with Pencil Ink that serves up Campos coffee, breakfast bites and lunch and dinner options with a scrumptious twist.
Table 26 was designed to be more of a dedicated bar and eatery as opposed to West End Park Cafe’s pit-stop aesthetic. Patrons can take a seat at any table (except for table 26, which is permanently reserved for dad as a tribute) and leisurely browse the extensive menu that caters for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. My dad’s favourite breakfast is featured on the menu – Pop’s Paratha (grilled flat bread filled with spicy scrambled eggs) sharing menu space with the likes of banana French toast, eggs benedict sliders, sandcrab omelettes and vege fritters. The lunch and dinner menu features a selection of foot-long rectangle pizzas, a deconstructed burrito plank where you can construct your own mouthfuls, wagyu ragu, and Nutella pizza and hazelnut affogatto for dessert. As far as drinks are concerned, we have some unique options including vegan shakes, organic tea from The Botanica Tea Co. (We are the first retail location to stock it), tap beers and wines.
Table 26 was created in 2017 out of a passion for amazing food and service. We believe that using the freshest ingredients produces the best results. Our aim is to connect the neighbourhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food.
We want to serve remarkable dishes and beverage to match our world class location, to consistently provide our customers with impeccable service by demonstrating warmth, graciousness, efficiency, knowledge, professionalism and integrity to our work. To have every customer who comes through our door greeted or acknowledged, and thanked at least once for allowing us to serve, and to leave with lasting memories. My dad would expect no less.
Quick Snapshot of Me
I grew up in Sydney but dad fell in love with Brisbane after visiting Expo 88 so he made the decision to move the family here. Since moving in 1989, my parents, two sisters and I have not looked back once. After graduating from UQ and working for a bank, I wanted to start my career in hospitality as that is where my true passion lies. Dad and I bought West End Park Café in 2003, which is where I built all my knowledge about the hospitality industry and local area, West End. My mum also helped the chef incorporate some of our family recipes into the menu.
I got married 5 years later and now have 2 beautiful boys. I want to teach them to work hard, never take anything for granted, be humble, kind and good to the world. I love soccer, cricket, travelling, working out when I can, eating 🙂 and spending time with my family and mates especially over a couple of wines or a good scotch.
If you want to get in contact with me for any reason at all, please don’t hesitate to email me – firstname.lastname@example.org. Would love to hear from you. Thanks, Amit
